The Arts and Civic Engagement: Involved In Arts, Involved In Life
This study, conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts, provides statistically reliable data that arts participation overwhelmingly correlates with positive individual and civic behaviors. Healthy communities depend on active citizens. The arts play an irreplaceable role in producing both those citizens and communities. The study demonstrates that arts participants are measurably different from non-participants - more active, more involved, and more socially engaged. Read the full study
  
Involvement in the Arts and Human Development: General Involvement and Intensive Involvement In Music and Theater Arts
This research, supported by the GE Fund and contained in Champions of Change, addresses three key areas: involvement in the arts and academic success, music and mathematics achievement, and theater arts and human development. Results of the study indicate an average of 20% higher scores for those students with high arts involvement versus those with low arts involvement. The study further demonstrates sustained student involvement in theater arts associates with a variety of developments for youth: gains in reading proficiency, gains in self concept and motivation, and higher levels of empathy and tolerance for others. From Performance Research, an article that explores the sponsor loyalty and company trust among arts audiences. A surprising finding that arts audiences are more loyal to sponsors than most sports fans. The article also gives a demographic description of arts audiences that reflects their interests, age, income and marital status. Read full article

In it's Spring 2007 edition, The Corporate Philanthropist, a publication of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, takes a look at numerous corporations that support the arts. Corporations such as Prudential Financial, JPMorgan Chase, Bloomberg, HCA and others discuss why they support the arts and why they believe the arts to be vital to their communities, employees, and their success.
